Challenge: 

Global EPDM manufacturer company was in a due diligence period prior to a potential acquisition and needed a clear understanding of the raw materials side of the business before moving forward with the acquisition. The client wanted to better understand the size of the raw material opportunity, strength and ranking of the competition, preferred suppliers, and demand-drivers of raw material buyers in advance of making a go/no-go decision on entering this space.

Methodologies: 

Face to face interviews at two tradeshows (Germany and the US), 54 qualitative IDI’s in Malaysia, Turkey, Germany, Poland, Brazil, and Colombia, extensive secondary research, and the development of a model to estimate market sizing.

The result: 

A comprehensive report detailing market sizing estimates, market dynamics, supplier decision-drivers, SWOT analysis of the competition and strategic recommendations. Client received validation that the acquisition target was a worthwhile strategic move but was also made aware of competitive issues and was able to move forward with their plans with an informed strategy.
